Although suffering from a severo

affliction of the eyes, which compelled

mm to give up his studies at the Boston Technical school, Louis C. Bennett,

22 years old, a son of Alderman Frank I. Bennett, has constructed a 40-foot gasoline cruiser admitted by south side yachtsmen to be the trimmest craft plying out of the Jackson park haven. The motor boat, which Is declared a perfect piece of construction, slipped a few cogs in its gearing while out near the crib this week, and the builder and owner has begun repairs which will fit the craft for a summer cruise. The boat and equipment, docking and deck house were all built by the boy. The work is pronounced as fine as if from the hands of a professional builder. The Bennett boat is 40 feet long, with a 9-foot beam, and a draught of three feet. It is equipped with a 24-horsepower Anderson. It has a torpedo stern, roomy cabin, awning and mast, and Is wholly decked. A similar boat was built by J. C. Asplet, 224 Fifty-third street.
