PLEASANT MUSICAL.
The pupils of Mrs. Emma! Lawrence gave a very delightful musical last evening in the First Baptist' church on Sibley street. The programf was composed of thirty-four numbers, all of which were well given. The pupils were assisted by Miss Margaret Law rence," the daughter' of Mrs, Lawrence, and Miss Ethel Illrsch, who gave several readings on the program. The entertainment was very well 'attended. ; MORXIXG AVEDDIXG. ' A very pretty wedding wajs celebrated this morning at 9 o'clock in All Saints' Catholic church when Miss Theresa Dolan, daughter of Mrs. Mary Dolan, was married to August t- Raycraft. A large' assembly of " relatives and friends of the young coupLe were present from Hammond and Chicago to witnessHhe ceremony. Thar Ilev. Edward F. Barrett, pastor of the church, read nuptial high mass. The "ring ceremony was used. . During the ceremony' Mrs. Michael Huber sang the beautiful Ava Maria and Miss Mildred ; Collins ' sang a pretty 'wedding hymn. ; As the bridal party came to 'the altar, the Lohengrin wedding march, was played. In the procession the little flower girls, nieces of the bride, Henrietta and Janet Evans,, came first. They wore dainty white frocks with wreaths of flowers and ferns and carried immense boquets of pink and white roses. Miss Anna Hastings, who attended the bride, as maid of honor, camo next with the groom, Mr. Raycraft. Miss Hastings wore a beauti- , ful white organdy gown fashioned in empire style. It was richly trimmed in lace. She wore a large white picture hat. The bride, Miss Dolan, came last with the groomsman, Nick Connely. The bride wore a handsome princess gown of messallne satin. Her long tulle veil was prettily caught with lilies of the valley. She carried a white leather prayer ook. Following the ceremony the members of the wedding party and a few relatives were entertained at a wedding breakfast at the home of Mrs. Dolan In Beall avenue. The happy couple will leave during the day for a short wedding visit but will return to Hammond to make their home. They received many handsome gifts of cut , glass and silver. Both young people have a large circle of friends In Hammond, where they have been interested in church social work for years. The bride was formerly a stenographer In the ReidMurdoch office. DAXCIXG CLASS. The regular Tuesday evening danc ing class was held last evening in . Long's hall. The party was very well attended by young people from Hammond and East Chicago and a pleasant time is reported. -;t 1 BXTEUTAIX AT SHOWER. A JUNE WEDDING. A wedding that will come as a surprise to a great many Hammond people took place Sunday in "Woodlawn, II., when Miss Margaret Mclntire and Mr. Pfelffer were secretly married. -Miss Mclntire was enjoying a week's vacation with friends in Woodlawn : and .was expected to. return to her po- : sitlon Monday when the announcement i of her marriage was received instead. Mr. Pfeiffer went to Woodlawn Sunday when the wedding took place. Mr. and Mrs. Pfelfer have returned to Chicago and are living at the Jackson Park hotel. Both young people were employed in Mr. Hannauer's department In the C. I. & S. railroad office at Gibson, and the wedding took place during his business visit in the east. Miss Mclntire was stenographer to Mr. Hannauer and Mr. Pfeiffer is chief clerk to the general superintendent of the company. The bride has many friends here, having lived in Hammond at the time the railroad offices were located here. ICE CREAM SOCIAL. The Ladies' Aid society of - tlje German M. E. church, 258 .Trumjgm avenue, will give an ice cream social on Thursday evening of this weelf' at the church parlors. Cake and ice cream will be served. VISIT RELATIVES HERE. Mrs. Gray and Miss Beatrice Wolff of Mansfield, O., and Mrs. Frank Gray of Lafayette, Ind., have been the guests of Dr. and Mrs. T. W. Oberlin of Warren street for a few days, but left yesterday for Denver, Colo., where they will spend several weeks., Miss Wolft is a sister of Mrs. Oberlin's. CLIB BUSINESS MEETIXG. .The members of the Homewood Magazine club held one of their business meetings yesterday afternoon at the home of the president, Mrs. George W. Lawrence, In South Hohman street. Three business meetings are held during the club year, two of which are held at the home of the president. At one the annual business, such as the election of officers, takes place, and at the other two the minutes of the meetings are read. Twelve members were present at yesterday's meefing and spent an enjoyable social hour at the close of business session. The hostess served a dainty luncheon. It IXAUAW

Three Hammondites on their way to New York stopped the 11:20 Michigen Central flyer at this city yesterday and are now Journeying toward the east ern metropolis. In the party was George Cohen, who was employed by the Standard Steel Car company until it closed down, and was generally known about town as the "duke," because of his claim that he belonged to the royal family in England. Tom Shea . and Charley Shea went to New York for the purpose of at tending the exposition of the National Railway Appliance association. Mr. Shea found it a convenient time to take in the exposition on account of the idleness of the local plant, and he I and his son expect to take in several of the other eastern cities before they return. He was thrown to the ground in such manner that his full weight was thrown on his arms and both of them were broken. He was removed to St. Margaret's hospital where his broken arms were set and he was afterwards removed to his home. JUDGE W. W. M'MAHON WAS QUITE BUSY. Judge W. W. McMahon's city court was busier this morning than it has been for some time. In addition to the trial of Charles Snider, on a charge of malcious trespass, Harry Williams of Vincennes, Ind., was fined $1 and costs for vagrancy. He admitted his guilt. A. D. Davidson, a drunk, on the verge of delirium tremens, was fined 1 and costs. He was sent to the county Jail. FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED OUT The fire department was called to Douglas street, West Hammond, this morning where one of the West Ham mond residents feared that a little prairie fire would threaten her house.
