Hebron Wins Game. The ball game between Hebron and a picked nine from Bridgeport yesterday resulted in a victory for the Hebron team by a score of 9 to 8. The inability of the Crown Point catcher to hold the cannon-ball curves of the pitcher is stid, to be the cause of Crown Point's downfall.

County Superintendent Helghway attended the Teacher's Institute of Ross township at Merrillville Saturday and while there was entertained at dinden with twenty of the school teachers of the township at the home of Will Wood, trustee of the township. Six young foxes were caught on Leroy Bailey's farm southwest of Lowell - , one day last week. Time was when a good bounty was paid for the pelts of these animals, but now they are getting so scarce that when caught, they are invariably used as pets or kept as curiosities. A good sited audiecne listened to the special music rendered by Barnie . Toung and his orchestra from Hammond and each member was applauded and encored to the entire satisfaction of the popular conductor. The ball afterwards was a success from every standpoint. Mr. andMrs. George B. Strabel and family of Washington, Pa., are expected to arrive here Tuseday. The Woman's Study Club will hold its business and final meeting until fall at the library building tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Although the wedding came as a complete surprise to the majority, the couple are now receiving the congratulations and best wishes of a host of friends.
City Council Meets Tonight. The city council will meet in regular session this evening, at which a city atterney will be appointed and also an alderman for the new fourth ward.

Lome Miller spent Saturday with his

Marshal Taylor is having his share
of trouble since the gang of men started in on the railroad viaduct north of town. The marshal found one Saturday who had imbibed too freely and
needed' taking cere of. When the of
ficer attempted to take him to the
'cooler," he objected and after going
some distance refused to go farther. The marshal urged him on, but instead of moving his feet he moved his fist and now Officer Taylor has something similar to a black eye.

An automobile driven by Wood Phil

stop on West Main street Saturday fore
noon while running about three miles an hour, bound for the garage. It was
found that one of the front springs had broken, letting the box down on the
axle. Quite a crowd was attracted by
the accident, as it was thought that a more serious accident had been narrowly averted. George Field and wife will leave tomorrow for Long Lane, Mo., to visit with Mrs. Field's sisters, whom she has not seen for a number of years. Louis Benham of this city, member of the firm of Otis & Benham, proprietors of the Federal Detective and Collecting agency, of Gary, has sold his interest In the business to Silas Oaks Guy Carr of this city, who expects to remove to Gary as soon as he disposes of his interests in the grocery business in which he is now engaged with his father. The report that Mr. Otis intends to conduct the business alone is an error. Joseph McGlllicuddy, of Chicago, spent Sunday with his parents In this city. Guy Carr was a Gary visitor yesterday. The superior court reconvened today under Judge Tuthlll for th second week of the April term.

J. A. Brennan returned from South Bend yesterday where the funeral of
the four-months-old child was held.
The death was quite sudden and Mr.
Brennen has the sympathy of his Gary
friends.

held in the Binzenhof, Tuesday night.
