Drum,' of A; L Drum & Co which concern is managing the Ham mond, Whiting and East Chicago street railway, will be in Hammond Monday I to confer with the city officials and the residents on South Hohman street thoroughfare. It is now believed that the street railway company is disposed to doubletrack that portion of the street while they have the chance and do away with the troublesome switches which they are compelled to put in at various I Intervals. It is understood that the traffic on I the Hammond-to-East Chicago line is
heavy enough at the present time toMn-
warrant the double tracking of the road and that It will probably be the policy of the street railway company to take advantage of the opportunity to put in the extra track now instead of running he risk of being shut out for the life of the navempnt. .
By double-trackine nortions of thelaPer
line in Hammond as the occasion demands, the lines of the company In this city will soon, be double-tracked throughout and the company will then be in a position to mako the. improve ments elsewhere as they are needed.
