BETTER THAN MEDICINE.
llrratbe Ilyomel'a Tonic Healing and be Cured of Catarrh. Nature has a remedy for catarrh, a treatment that is far better than dosing the stomach with medicine. It is the healing oils and balsams of Hyomei which medicates the air you breath, reaching the most remote air eella in the nose, throat and lungs, killing all catarrhal germs, and restoring health to the mucous membrane. In using Hyomei you are treating your catarrhal troubles with the only natural remedy, for It gives a curative air bath to the air passages that has as powerful healing and antiseptic effect as that found In the mountains where the pine forests give off their fragrant and healing balsams. Breathe the invigorating and healing Hyomei, and see how quickly you will get relief from your catarrhal troubles. Summers Pharmacy has seen so many cures, even of the worst cases of catarrh, with offensive breath, raising of mucus, frequent sneezing, droppings In the throat and spasmodic coughing, that they feel warranted in selling Hyomei under an absolute guarantee to refund the money if it does not do all that is claimed for it. They take- all the risk.

Sleep is nature 'srebuilding period, Tviien the energy used by the brain, muscles and organs is renewed. If you lose sleep, your system is robbed of the strength sleep should give. Continued loss of sleep multiplies this loss until you become a physical wreck. Dr. Miles' Nervine quiets the irritated nerves and brings refreshing, invigorating sleep. Nervine contains no opiates, and therefor leaves no bad after-effects. "For over two years I suffered untold agonies; my f Fiends thought I was going crazy. I could not sleep nor rest at all. I tried different doctors, but failed to find relief. My head would ache all the time; I was like one drunk; could not concentrate my mind, and was so restless and Worried that slet'p was out of the question. After taking one bottle of Dr. Miles' Nervine I felt wonderfully changed. I am now on my third bottle and am gaining1 all the time. I can lie down and . sleep like a child, and arn able to do my work." MRS. MAY SCOTT. English, Ind. 0. 1. R. R.JAYS OFF MEN Reduces Construction Crews by a Total of 2,500 Toilers.
Chicago, Oct. 31. The Rock Island railroad system yesterday laid off 2,500 men from its construction and track forces. Although the road centers in Chicago, the order did not affect any employes In this city and the maintenance crews were not disturbed. The construction crews in every western state where the road goes, from Illinois to Texas, were reduced by the number mentioned. Only Construction Crews Laid Off. "The men laid off were engaged in improvement work in the various states," said President "Winchell, "and the number is no larger than in other years. AVe are not touching the maintenance crews. Traffic conditions are still flourishing and there is no sign of a tieup in that quarter." The same situation appears to exist in other Quarters. The Union Pacific during he last few days has discharged between 4,000 and 8,000 men. General Superintendent Park is the authority for that statement. All but necessary repair work has been abandoned. The great Lane cutoff west of Omaha has been stopped. Similar Action Expected In Et. It was rumored that the Pennsylvania and the New York, New Haven, & Hartford railroads in the east were about to lay off a number of men the Pennsylvania between 20,000 and 30,000 but thi3 has been denied by the officials. All construction work has been stopped on the Oregon Short line. President Marvin Hughitt of the Chicago & Northwestern railroad Is out of the city and the intentions of that road are no known.

and that they were liable to punishment. They went, nevertheless, and nothing serious developed, so they thought that they would try it again. Two weeks after that they journeyed to Hammond where they had scheduled a game with the local high school, one of the strongest In the state. They succeeded in defeating our crippled team
and arrived in Valpo in an exulting
mood. The wind was all taken out of their sheets, however, when they were called before the powers that be and
each and every one of them severly reprimanded and some of them notified
that their presence in the university
was no longer desired. Others will no
doubt be Informed likewise before the trouble has been settled. The conduct of the boys In Ham
mond was all that could be desired. A
more gentlemanly aggregation has never been seen in the city, and the city and the high school found it a pleasure to entertain them during their stay in Hammond. In the game their playing was clean and their actions uniformly, all that could be expected of any visiting team. They had broken the Iron clad rule of the school, however, and punishment was all that awaited them when they returned from their hard earned victory. The players who participated in the game aga'nst the local high school last Saturday were: Right end. Mead; right tackle, Long; right guard, Daughetry; left tackle, Puggar; left end. Marine; quarterback.
Captan Mead; right halfback. Swanson; fullback, Froggner; left halfback, Sherer.

The saloon of Paul Yakbeas on Field avenue, was broken into this morning and about JS0 worth of loot taken. The entrance was pained by means of an open transom over the door and the cash register with its contents was stolen. It Is thought that there were two men concerned in the case and that while one worked inside, the other kept watch and that the cash register was passed out through the transom. The local police are working on the case.
