OVER-EATING VS. STARVATION. Dr. J. N. Hurty, secretary of the state board of health at a meeting ot the Eighth District Medical society at Muncie, Saturday pointed out a duty to the men of the medical profession which while, not altogether original with Dr. Ilurty was by no means out of order. Perhaps physicians as a class are a bit weary of being hold, up as examples of nobility when most of them individually do not lay claim to any more nobility than other intelligent and educated men who follow a profession because therein lies their greatest interest and as they believe their most promising field of endeavor. V.y the same token they are possibly weary of having the burden of responsibility of tho general public health thrust upon them and believe that they are doing their full duty toward mankind when they attend consclensciously and to the best of their ability to the Ills of their own patients. Nevertheless the great Importance, of public liealth is of such vital moment, ignorance is so universal, and the field for benefaction along that lino Is so wide, that it should naturally appeal to the
physician who is the only logical teacher

SPORTING GOSSIP By 'u The graduates and friends of Wabash college, in Hammond, aro loud in proclaiming what a big stunt it was for the football team of that school to hold Michigan down to 22 last Saturday at Indianapolis. That does not seem to be much of a stunt to my mind. In fact it looks like a pretty bad beating. Michigan is not near so good this year as it was in past years, and In the Wabash game they fumbled bo badly that any team could have held them down, of course, Wabash has a good team, but it cannot commence to class with other colleges around here. Eut 22 to 0 is a score
that it would be best to keep quiet ohmit nn.i not to brag about a big
stunt pulled off.
