For the past few months the railroads have been suffering: heavy losses from which depredations ia the open In order to get at the grain. A open in orde rto set at the grain. Bill Vanderberg went to Chicago yesterday to see the ball game, Mrs. Dorsey received a call yesterday from her brother, who resides in Joliet, and was on his way to Chicago to attend the ball game. Mrs. N. a. Edman entertained a party of relatives and friends yesterday afternoon at her home on lloxlj avenue in honor of her little daughter, Marjorie's first birthday. A delicious luncheon was served and each guest was given a little brownie filled with candy as a favor In remembrance of the event. Those jresent were Mesdames Edman, Fisher, Larkin, E. Fisher, E. S. Edman, J. Mathia, Barber of South Bend, and Misses Pansy and Violet Edman, Louise Rush, Rose Edman, Mayme and Ella Bush, Agnes and Helen Reld.

Rev. F. K. Gala has been transferred by the Methodist Rock River conference, to the northwest Bide of the city as superintendent of a department of work preparatory to a presiding eldership. The final Inquest In regard to the death of Andrew Anderson of Pc-orli street, was held yesterday afternoon and decided accidental entirely. The raolroad company will stand liberal expenses and contributions were given by citizens of West Pullman. Funeral services were held at his late residence at 1:45 o'clock Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Guy Hoover. Interment In Oakwood cemetery. Herbert and Bert Bowers have arrived safely in Europe going on the Lusltanla from Liverpool. They report a rough voyage. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Evans left yesterday for their new home at Los Angeles, Cal.

Mrs. Cherry of West One Hundred and Seventeenth street, visited friends In West Pullman, 'Xhursday. Mrs. Mary Van der Way of One Hundred and Twentieth street and Lafayette avenue, was a Chicago visitor yesterday. Angelo Pinoskl is having a three story house erected on Indiana avenue. Miss Dwyer of Pullman, visited friends In Kensington, Wednesday. Mrs. Travis of West Pullman, visited with friends in Kensington. Mrs. Quigley of Humboldt Park, Is spending a few days with Mrs. Grey of One Hundred and Eighteenth place and State street.

Christian Kudenvor Meeting Attract Visitor From Hammond and East Chicago.

(Special to Lake County Tliueai.) Whiting, Oct. 11. The Christian Endeavor of the Congregational church held the annual district convention In their church last evening. The fore part r.f the evening was taken up with a business meeting, after which a short program was given. Those taking part were Miss Nellie E. Wycoff and J. Roy Morrison, who rendered vocal solos, and a duet was given by Misses Margaret Griffith and Gaynelle Eaton. Refreshments were also served. There was a large delegation present from Hammond and East Chicago.
