Bud Reed will open a bowling alley on the corner ot Erie avenue and One Hundred and Thirty-third street, Hegewisch. 111., on Sept. 14. The place has been put In fine shape and the alley will be run in first class order. 9-4-2w The reception given by the ladles of the M. E. church Saturday evening In honor of Rev. and Mrs. B. G. Swaney was a grand success. All present thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were glad to welcome their pastor and his wife after the pastor's absence of two weeks. They visited England, Denmark, Sweden and Germany and were away three months. A sad bereavement has fallen to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hunsucker, 151 75th street. In the death of their daugh ter Dorothy, at Philadelphia. Miss Dorothy, with her parents, had been visiting relatives in Philadelphia, when she was taken sick and died very suddenly. The Eheriff was called to St. John yesterday to have a party arrested. Deputy sheriff Horst arrived, but returned without making an arrest. The cause for calling the sheriff was a mixup between the night operator in the signal tower and the section foreman from the north section of the C, L & S. R. R. LOWELL NEWS Dan Lynch is serving on the Jury In the superior court at Hammond. Perry Nichols is putting a substantial foundation under his residence in North Clark street. Ed. Michael of West Creek township and James Craft of Cedar Creek town ship, were summoned as special Jurors in the superior court at Hammond, Monday. Mrs. H. H. Ragon and son Charlie, who have been visiting at Brazil with their daughter and sister, Mrs. J. L. Buckley and family for two weeks, re turned home Monday evening. Arthur Foster, clerk In the State Na tional bank, and Bert Wood, assistant cashier in the Lowell National bank. left this morning for Philadelphia where they will take a course in financing and banking in the Pennsylvania State university. At a meeting held at Peru, Ind., a few days ago, Dr. J. A. Dinwiddle of this city, was elected secretary of the Northern Indiana Dental association. This is a very responsible position to fill, but the doctor will be equal to the occasion and will never be found wanting when there is a duty to perform.
