GARY NOW HAS TEN COPS. Billy Miller IIm Been Appointed and Sew IJetnll Will He .VrruiiBed. EiUy Mil lor, one of Gary's pioneer young men, traveled a policeman's beat Tor the first time last night, belns the ninth man to be given a place on the local police force. This afternoon LaI'ayette "K'.t.-ler from Crown Toint, qualified and was appointed the tenth man on the force. "With this number the local department should be able to bring matters up to somewhat nearly the standard expected of Gary. A permanent organization is now possible with regular assignments for the different men and the creating of euch places as desk sergeant and an oiflcer in charge of the force at niht. As it has been hitherto, the chief has ben compelled to be on duty night and day and at odd times In order to keep in touch with the work of his men and know whether or not they are working or loafing. SEWER DIGGING DIFFICULT. Street anil .Alley Are Illockaded and Team Suffer From Heat. The work of tho advance shell belonging to Nash & Dovdle, sewer builders in digging the trench for the Bewer west from Uroadway has made It almost Impossible for teams to get back and forth from the north to the Bouth sides of town or vice versa, by reason of shutting off the different north and south streets west of Broadway. There are already shut off to the east because of the delay on the part of the follow up clam shell which makes a long detour of half a dozen blocks necessary while doinjj the filling. The hauling is so difficult under ordinary conditions that the company fchould take steps to alleviato tho conditions. The heat is making team work almost Impossible and there are a number of the teams of different contractors lost every days. ATTORNEY EARDON ASSAULTED. Stranger Att.iek Him Without (nuse and Is Himself ThrnnUciI. Attorney Bard on was the victim of an assault last evening in front of the J)ella Chiesa building on Broadway. Vhilo talking with a client the man who was badly intoxicated and an utter stranger to Mr. Bardon approached the attorney and struck him several times without warning. When Mr. Bardon regained his breath he gave an acount of himself that disturbed the assailant's equilibrium to such an extent that he was willing to leave. The alleged reason for the attack was that Mr. Bardon had come here from Chicago to get a former deputy prosecutor's Job. CONSIDER FRANCHISES TODAY. Gary Board 51ay Flare Itself On Record Hesardiui; Traction Problem. It Is expected that the franchise mattors will be pretty well In hand tomorow when the attorney presents his opinion on those alrdeay on file and there is a possibility of the board placing Itself on record for or against some of the franchises filed. There is every reason for their making haste slowly In the matter, every delay they make probably being that much mora ultimate gain for Gary. Attorney Frank Gavit of Whiting spent this afternoon here and took occasion to file a new franchise ordinance to take the place of the one he and M. M. Castleman filed some time ago. Briefs. Dr. Walash is at Chicago this afternoon on business for the health department. The First National bank people have put up a large sign at the rear end. of the excavation on their lots announcing that they will occupy tho building to be erected there within tho next two months. Contractor MeCrea is receiving esti- . mates from several largo grading contractors for tho grading of Broadway south of the Wabash preparatory to putting on the paving. of Gary at the southwest corner of Broadway and Fifth avenue Is beginning: to assume shape and already gives a significant Idea of the Imposing beauty the structure will present when completed. All of the artificial stone work Is completed a considerable distance above the first story height of aji ordinary building- The hand worked wreaths forming a decoration above the Broadway entrance to the building attracts the attention of the casual spectator and is just at present the most striking feature.

HOI TREATMENT
FOR WOMEk The Prescription of a Great Physician VALUE PROVEN During Twenty Years of Actual Practice. Probably one of the most successful medical specialists in the treatment of women's diseases was Dr. Pengclly. He formulated Zoa-Phora by using a number of medicinal ingredients which experience had shown him to be the best, and combined them in just the right proportions to produce the desired effect on woman's delicate organism. During more than twenty years of actual medical practice ho invariably prescribed Zoa-Phora for the alleviation of pain and permanent restoration of health to sick and filing women. Success to a marked degree attended his treatment of all those diseases and derangements of the genital ortvun which are peculiar to women only. It is nut necessary to enumerate here the various forms of weakness and disease all women know what they are which Dr. Pengelly treated so successfully with Zoa-Phora. Further proof of these statements, if desired, and more detailed information as to the results obtained from the use of Zoa-Phora. can be obtained by writing the Zoa-Phora company, Kalamazoo, Mich. They will gladly answer all inquiries and will send you copies of letters from many women who volunteer words of praise for the doctor's treatment. Within a short time the demand for Zoa-Phora. brought about by the recommendation of women who had been blessed by its use, became so great that the doctor could not personally attend each patient, and now Zoa-Phora is being sold by reliable druggists nearly everywhere. It comes in sealed, sterilized, dollar bottles, already prepared, and compounded in just tho right proportions. There can be no mistake if you ask for ZoaPhora. In each package there will be found a copy of "Dr. Pengelly's Advice to Women," a medical book giving interesting and instructive information about all diseases of women, and the way to successfully treat them in the privacy of your own home. Proof of Power. The man who is worthy of being a leader of men will never complain of the stupidity of his helpers, of the ingratitude of mankind ncr of the inappreciation of the public. These thing3 are all a part of the great game of life and to meet them and not go down before them in discouragement and defeat is the final proof of power. Elbert Hubbard-
