NEW YORK LETTER. New York, June 10. The market opened higher and improvements over Saturday's prices extended in the early dealings. After the first hour, prices showed a disposition to weaken in sympathy with reaction of one and onehalf points in Union Pacific. Later the undertone became fairly strong and some good absorption of stocks was noted. Immediately following the publication of government crop report a number of stocks advanced to the highest figure of the day. Later prices -acted, closing .weak with very little change for the day.

CHICAGO LETTER.
Chicago, June 10 WHEAT Prices
have covered a range of 1 to lc with
the predominant disposition during most of day to reduce open risks by traders In general, pending the issue
of government figures at several fairly
large lines of long wheat were sold
out, causing some reaction from early
bulge. All nervous shorts had apparently covered during the bulge Saturday, which followed the publication
of Kansas report. The trade was gen
erally expecting a bullish report on
winter wheat, but the chief feature that will attract attention to the spring wheat will be the acreage seeded.
The lateness of season, making an in
telligent guess on condition impossible.
Fair and warmer weather expected following rains today in Miss, valley.
All grades of cash wheat in good demand here today.
CORN Prices showed a good advance early. Recent wet and cold weather has given the crop a material back set. The bulge called out selling to take profits and also some short selling upon the theory that tine weather to follow current rains in Mississippi Valley would advance the crop very rapidly. OATS have been under pressure all day. The selling was of the same character as previously. Weather conditions generally favorable for oats. Selling of July has been considerable and that future even weaker than other months.
LIVERPOOL MARKET.
Liverpool, June 10. Wheat opened one-half higher; corn, one-quarter higher. Wheat closed five-eighths to seveneighths higher; corn closed one-eighth higher.
Harriman cannot afford to be demonstrative. The governments decoslon not to criminally prosecute him means Rooseveltlan Inquisition is to cease. The effect should be seen In higher prices for Pacifies, Illinois Centrals and Erles. The bank statement today
will not be especially favorable. With
al it is not likely to exercise any pernicious effect for reason that condi
tions from a market point ot view are temporarily favorable for Improvement, !
Take on some B. R. T. Hold it for 60 figures that will soon be . reached.
The activity of the lnter-state com
mission and the work of the attorney
general's office will now be the subject
of consideration Instead of recent forebodings of what might emanate from the White House and whatever may be done In these departments will take form and process; perhaps more moderate, and in any event more deliber
ate than heretofore comtemplated by
the average observer. Meantime after
the market has reflected some possible improvement In sentiment from this consideration, it is hardly logical to
expect the investing and operating public to igaore the many fundamental problems yet unsolved or which have
not passed the crucial stage, among which It is proper to recall the crop and monetary situation, with the
enormous pressure on the market of
new capital issues, and the unrestraln- ! ed exactions of labor.
