Mracek has been appointed a regular carrier on rural route No. 4, after acting as substitute for some time. The Tournament team of the Crown Point fire company is planning to give a ball at Central music hall April 17th. E. S. Caso of Wilders has succeeded M. J. O'Brien as local agent of the Erie here, and Mr. O'Brien has been transferred to Griffith. The members of the high school chorus which will represent Crown Point at the oratorical meet was selected on Wednesday evening. Chris. Lassen was up from Cedar Lake yesterday and announced that his big gasoline launch will be put into commission this week, which is nearly a month earlier than usual. Herbert Wheaton has received a notification from tho department of the Interior that ho has been appointed to a position as Instructor in the Philippines at a salary of $1,200 per year. Mrs. Ecklund and daughter were Shopping yesterday at South Chicago. Mr. Patterson has left here to go to Canada where he expects to spend the summer. Mrs. Ilendrickson, Mrs. Clara Johnson and Mrs. T. AVatkins, were Sast Side visitors yesterday. The Epworth League will hold their monthly business meeting Friday evening at the M. E. church. Three of the Chicago district officers will be present at this meeting and will speak. Everyone Is invited to this meeting whether they are members or not. Mrs. Fred Sargent left this morning to visit her parents at Boswell, Ind. The girls of the high school alumni are talking of organizing a basket ball team. The high school attendance is very small on account of the Easter holidays. Remember the Easter supper at the Swedish Lutheran church tomorrow night. The girls' basket ball team of the high school played their Initiatory game with the Whiting team last night. D. M. Martin of Wes' Pullman and Newton Martin of Englewood visited the first of the week with their brother Oscar Martin, of North Barring avenue. One of the street cars Jumped the track at the switch at Forsyth and Exchange avenues yesterday morning about 9 o'clock and did not leave until about 12 o'clock noon. There will be a union love feast at the First Methodist church, East Chicago, Ind., Wednesday evening, April 3, 1907, at 7:30 o'clock. The presiding elder, Rev. D. M. Wood, will have charge of the service and will be assisted by Rev. L. S. Smith of Hammond, Rev. G. M. Wright of Whiting, Rev. Israel Hatton of Indiana Harbor and Rev. T. J. Everett of East Chicago. The hymns of the Methodist hymnal will be sung. The Methodist churches at Hammond, Whiting, Indiana Harbor and East Chicago unite In this love feast and the general public is Invited to attend. The cantata, "Cinderella," will be re peated Tuesday evening for the bene fit of Miss Lena Erwin. Mrs. D. Allen, who has been visiting friend3 in West Pullman, returned to her home in Indianapolis, Thursday. A number of people of West Pullman attended the band concert at the Palm er Park auditorium Wednesday evening, given by the Pullman band. Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Stueburg and Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Rounds made a trip to Lincoln park in Mr. Rounds' automobile Tuesday. PULLMAN NEWS Mrs. Krocht will leave for Indiana April 11 for a visit. Mr. Kroskurth of Pullman, visited Mr. Kierchke at St. Mary's hospital. The funeral of Mr. Frlestater will take place Saturday. Interment at Oakwood. The band concert held at Palmer Park hall last evening was very well attended. The oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs Geo. Abel, formerly of Pullman, now residing in Detroit, died the 26th of March. Palace council of the Royal League will give a dance, Easter Monday, at Market hall. A great time is ex pected. SOUTH DEERING Miss Mayme Heelan of Hpxie avenue, was shopping in Chicago yesterday. LOWELL NEWS Miss Edith LeRoy has gone to Chi cago where she has a position in a tele phone office. Deputy Game Warden Duckworth Is at Baum's Bridge this week looking af ter violaters of the law. The Athletic boys have purchased some new standards and have begun training for the track meet. i Mrs. Perry Jones, after a winter's stay with her daughter, Mrs. Haines in Chicago, has returned to her home in Lowell. A number of severe wind storms have visited this locality within the last week. During one of them the silo on the Donnaha farm over in Eakle Creek township was blown down. George Wilson, who recently pur chased the Ed Sanders' brick building and turned it Into a blacksmith shop Is installing several new pieces of ma chinery and in a short time will have a first class machine shop.
