F. Riehofer, 10605 Mackinaw avenue, was discharged by Judge Goodnow this morning after a good case of larceny
had been made out against him, on the admission of Mrs. Riehofer that her
husband took the $14 that Ridge was
charged with stealing. The woman
noticed Reigle in the vicinity of her home yesterday afternoon, and on missing the money, went to the police sta
tion and caused his arrest. On her husband's return from work at night, she learned that he had taken the money
in the morning.

battery preferred by William Smith,
employed as a porter in a barber shop at 90th street and Buffalo avenue.
All the parties are colored, and there
was a dark cloud of colored witnesses
for the defense. Smith claimed to have been beaten by the defendants, threat
ened with a revolver and chased by
Jackson with a long knife. Jackson claimed that Smith had insulted his
'girl," and much amusement was

Friends of Lansing Woman Believe
Her to be In Chicago, It.it They Do Not Know.
Mrs. T. II. Schrum who mysterious
ly disappeared last Monday from her
home near Lansing, 111., is still miss
ing, and although absolutely no trace
of her has been found, it Js now thought by her friends and relatives that she is in Chicago. There remains,
however, a doubt in their minds as to her sanity and it is thought possible that she may have committed suicide
by drowning herself.
Mr. Schrum has offered $25 reward
for the information leading to the discovery of her whereabouts.
The domestic relations of the
Cchrums have always been agreeable, although the husband has noticed that Charles Wendoroff, a laborer who had
been staying with the Schrums seemingly held a strange influence over Mrs. Schrum of late. Wenderoff is thought to be in. LaPorte.
' Mayhem Case Continued. The case against August Anderson, accused of committing art assault on
Arthur Iljeide, an 8-year-old boy, several days ago, in which the boy's eye was gouged out, was today continued in the municipal court until April 15. Bonds were fixed at $1,000, the charge being mayhem. The Hjeide boy, who was removed to the Washington Park hospital, is said to be in danger of dy
ing from the blood poisoning. The injured eye was removed by the hospital
surgeons yesterday.
