Last Sunday a message was received from the Hammond crowd which Vft Chicago on the Missouri for Thetfsalon., Algouia county, Canada. Whether it came by wireless telegraphy or wtas found ia a bottle on the beach is not Known but the contents indicate that it rrobably floated in on the waves. A few exerts will indicate what the log of the ship would look like if it should ever be published. Saturday, Atrg. 11, a crowd consisting of the folio-wing Hammond citizens hoarded the MiUsouri bound for the North. Th pursers registered shows it to have been, cortbio.'d of the following people: L't. and Mrs. 11. E. Sharrer and daaiglmer. Dr. and Mrs C. W. Campbell, Mr. aisd Mrs. Abe Ottenheimer and sou, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Bhiekman, W. J. MicAleer and daughter, T. M. C. Uemrhnoit and family and one-half dox-u spCnsu-rs. Lake Michigan lupins to roll and the faces of twen.ty-th.reo Hammond people are framed by the round rim of the portholes. Suiwlay, August 12. The sun shines briht!v today and after a hearty brcidkfLt the Hammond people seem to take on n-w life.' It. has bet-si decided to reorganize a Skookum elub. Election was held today. Honest Abe Ottenheimer was unanimously chosen president of the
club on ;he thirty-ninth, ballot. It is understood that Kennedy tried to -vote in the negative by wireless but the ship's. appar-atus was out of order at the time. Miss Veda llemstoek was chosen vice president as a reward for her abiltiy to resistsea sickness. Sunday afternoon. The first stop of the h'hip was at Manistee. The populace received the Hammond visitors with open arms. A rush was made for souvenir postal cards and the supply was soon exhausted. Skookums are takn in by the U. P. O. E. in their new home and royally entertained. Monday, August 12. After visiting Mackinac Island the Hammond crowd left for: Thessalon, Canada, wlfeV the fishUng begins. Ever since the arrival of the Skookums at their fishing resort there have beeui rumors of catches of 5-pound bass arad 10-pound pickerel, but an official fish story teller has been appointed and the censor will doubtless see thait the stories are properly exaggerated. ,
