Gary has only begun to build a city for the living when it must lay out a city for the dead. Jonh Collins was stricken with heart trouble while at work. His fellow workmen hurridly placed him in a buggy and started with him to Tolleston, the nearest place where a doctor could be found. But the effort to obtain medical aid was unavailing for Collins died on the way. He was taken to UnderC. A. Johnson of Whiting where Coroner Hoskin took charge of the body. Collins was well known here where he worked for Dan Bush in West Hammond and J. H. Prohl of this city. His father is a farmer living near Tolleston.
HUNT TOR BRE'R FOX; FIND BRE'R RACCOON. Mrs. Gostlin Plans Unique EnterWhich Diverts Society Women-Mrs. Harrington ReWith the "Brush." Harrison park was the scene of a unique fox hunt which was the feature of a party by Mrs. W. H. Gostlin to the members of the MagaClub and other invited guests yesterday afternoon. Instead of the conventional ridhabit worn at a fox hunt, the guests arrived dressed in cool white summer gowns apparently not exthe strenuous hunt which was to follow. The rules of the chase were that the hunt for the fox should be caron within the confines of Harripark with the Gostlin lawn as the central point from which the search should be made. After the hundred or more inguests had assembled, groups of a dozen or more ladies would make short excursions into the park across the street and search through the bushes for the fox that was supto be hiding there. Suddenly off in the underbrush was heard a surprised little "Oh!" and Mrs. Harrington of 43 Doty street triumphantly announced that she had found the fox. The ladles gathered around a terlittle beast chained to a small willow tree and were too much afraid of it to attempt to claim their quarry. But it wasn't a fox they had huntfor, the cowering little beast that was surrounded by the elite of Hamsociety and had suddenly beits center of attraction, was nothing but a coon. After the excitement of the chase refreshments were served to the ladies on the lawn and the adventof the hunt as a subject for concaused considerable merriMrs. Harrington was presented with the coon as the prize for her valor as a huntswoman, but strange to say she did not take it home with her that afternoon.
