PICK UP CORN
The DeMotte Methodist church being like most churches is usually in need of more money. Mr. Kenneth Zeck as Sunday School Superintendent suggested that a group come out and pick up corn on the Grube-Zeck farm. Last Saturday, December 3, thirty adults and children arrived at the farm north east of town. At noon the women fixed a dinner for all consisting of chili, cocoa and home made pies. By the time that it was time to go home 87 bushels of corn had been picked up. Five different parties had promised a nickel extra for every bushel picked up so that means an additional 25 cents for each bushel. Everyone went home in the evening feeling that they had done something worth while and had a very good time getting it done.
