Begin Taking Jasper County Census April 1
Nation To Again Count Noses In 17th Decennial Checkup; Jasper County In Gary District Census enumerators will begin the 17th decennial Census of population in Jasper county on April I, according to information received by the district census office in Gary. Roland H. Ditty of Gary, district census supervisor, said applications for enumerators will be received about the first of the year. The census will be taken all over the county at the same time. Figures from various district offices are forwarded to national headquarters in the U. S. department of commerce. There tabulations are made for the nation, the foyty-eight states, the more than 3,000 counties, and for hundreds of cities, towns, villages and rural routes that make up the United States. The following questions will be asked for every' resident; Name; relationship to head of household; race; sex; age; marital status; state or country of birth; citizenship Status; employment status for every person 14 years of age or over, and occupation, industry and type of worker.
