HAMSTRA-ROORDA AND KLEMP-ROORDA MARRIED IN DOUBLE WEDDING SERVICE

Miss Mary Ann .. Hamstra, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. G. Hamstra and George Roorda, son of Mr. Frank Roorda, .and Miss Albert Klemp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Klemp and Walter Roorda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Roorda were married Thursday evening at 8 o’clock, August 25th. Services were, performed by candle light in the First Reformed church of DeMotte. Candelabra and baskets of gladioli decorated, the church for the double ring ceremony at which Rev. Frederic Dolfin officiated. Organist was Mrs. Joe Hamstra and the songs, “Because” and “I Love You Truly” were sung by Mrs. Bill Hoffman. The brides were given in marriage by their fathers. They each were lovely in white satin, made by their mothers. The gowns were cut with high necklines and featured fitted bodices with full skirts and train. A white beaded tiara, secured each of their veils, which fell to finger tip length. They carried bouquets of white carnations with streamers. The bridesmaids LaVerne Evers and Carol Bultema wore lavender and pink gowns. LaVerne carried pink gladioli and Carol lavender gladioli. Gene Hamstra, brother of Mary Ann was ring bearer and Caroline Klemp, sister of Alberta and dressed in blue taffeta was flower girl. Joe Roorda and Frank Roorda, brothers of the bridegrooms were best men. Ushers were Steve Terpstra and Ray Jonkman. Guests numbering 120 were welcomed at a reception in the church basement after the wedding. Flowers and two three tiered wedding cakes decorated the tables. Mrs. John Kingma and Mrs. Gerben Eenshuistra, with the help of Mr. Bultemas’ Sunday school class served. After a four day honeymoon the newly weds will be at home in DeMotte.
