LAKE COUNTY FAIR TO BE BIGGEST EVER
Crown Point, Ind. What promises to be the biggest and most spectacular fair in the history of Lake County will be staged at the fairgrounds from Aug. 22 to 28. The 89th annual Lake County’s Central States Fair will be seven days and nights featuring agricultural, home economics, commercial, 4-H, and other exhibits. In addition, the fair offers a full three-day card of harness racing, a horse-pulling contest, society and western horse shows, special events, a complete carnival and other thrill-packed activities. “We feel this will be the biggest show in the history of Lake County,” N. E. Leep of Highand, president of the fair association, said. A total of $31,000 in premiums will be awarded, the largest prize money ever to be given at any previous fair. Thirty dealers from Lake County and from other sections of the midwest will display their latest farm equipment. It is estimated that about a half-million dollars in equipment will be on view to the thousands of visitors. Added attractions of the fair will be the Central State’s Revue, a fireworks display, the Ward Beam Automobile Thrill show, the auction of 4-H beef cattle, and a sensational western rodeo.
