AUXILIARY PLANS MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Plans for a membership campaign to give DeMotte Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary increased strength for its activities during the year ahead have been announced by Mrs. Boissy, Unit President. The campaign is on now, with enrollment of the Unit’s 1950 quota as its goal. The -campaign will be directed by Mrs. Norma Thorsen, membership chairman of the Unit, assisted by her committee composed of Polly Harrington and Unit officers. Invitations to come into the activities of the Auxiliary will be given to all eligible women in the city. “We feel that it is especially important for the wives, mothers, sisters and daughters of veterans of both World Wars to lie members of the Auxiilary at this time,” sad Mrs. Boissy. “This is a critical time in the affairs of veterans, as well as of the nation, and the Auxiliary is working for the welfare of both. Every woman who joins gives us additional strength for service to the veterans and for our work in support of national security and Americanism.” Those eligible to be Auxiliary members, Mrs. Boissy explained, are the wives, mothers, sisters and daughter of members of the American Legion, or of men who died in war service and of veterans who have died since discharge. Women who served in the armed forces in either World War are eligible to both Legion and Auxiliary membership. -
