GI Dividends To Be Distributed

Special Dividend Of $2,800,000,000 On National Service Life Insurance On June 20, 1948 the Administrator of Veterans Affairs declared a special dividend of $2,800,000,000 on National Service Life Insurance. This dividend will be distributed on the basis of contribution to surplus to all persons who had insurance in force for a minimum of three months up to the anniversary date in 1948. This dividend! will not be paid on insurance issued after December 31, 1947. This applies to policies on the permanent plans as well as to term policies. In older to participate in the distribution it is not necessary for a policy to have been in force on the 1948 anniversary date, or to be in force now at the time the declaration is made. No calculations have been yet made of the amount individuals will receive. It is anticipated that application forms will be available at post offices, veterans’ service organizations, and Veterans Administration Offices, sometime in August 1949.
