Resident Of Demotte For 61 Years Succumbs

Mrs. Arthur Peterson, Native Of Holland Dies This Morning; Rites To Be Thursday Mrs. Rose Peterson, wife of Arthur Peterson, died at the family residence 2-1/2 miles west of DeMotte early this morning after a ten-day illness of a series of complications caused by advanced age. She had been in gradual decline for several months. A native of Holland, Mrs. Peterson had resided in the DeMotte area for sixty-one years, going there from Roseland, Illinois. She came to America during her early married life. Mrs. Peterson was born in Oudeschott, Holland, January 22, 1856, a daughter of Yelle and Deeuvkje Nijenhuis. Her marriage to Arthur Peterson took place May 10, 1885, in Hurenzeen, Holland. Mrs. Peterson was a member of the DeMotte Christian Reformed church. Surviving her besides the husband are the following children: Richard Peterson of DeMotte, George Peterson of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Henry Peterson, Mrs. Anna Walstra, Mrs. Grace Terborg and Mrs. Alice Delstra, all of DeMotte, and Mrs. Bertha Kamminga of Wheatfield. There are 31 grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren surviving. The funeral services will be held from Christian Reformed church at 2 o’clock Thursday, with the Rev. Paul Holtrop officiating. Burial will be at Holland cemetery. The remains will be at Todd’s Funeral Home in DeMotte until Thursday morning, and after that at the late residence until the hour of the funeral.
