Albert Tilton, Aged Wheatfield Farmer, Dies
Death Of Prominent Man Follows Gradual Decline; Services To Be Held Wednesday Albert James Tilton, long prominently associated with the life of Wheatfield township, died at his Wheatfield home at 12:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon following a year’s general decline resulting from complications of advanced age. He was 85 years of age. Mr. Tilton was born in Medaryville April 25, 1864, a son of John H. Tilton and Samnatha (Swisher) Tilton. His boyhood and earlier adult life was spent in the community of his birth, after which he came to Jasper county, where he continued farming. He retired from active life a number of years ago. He was married to Mary Jane Hershman in 1888. She passed away November 6, 1906. In DecCora Hodge, who survives, ember, 1924, he was married to Included among the survivors are the following children: Leslie O. Tilton of Lowell, Mrs. Margaret Boehm of Janesville, Wis., John Tilton of Wheatfield and William Tilton of Bicknell. Also surviving him are the following step-children, Mrs. Dessie Datonie* of East Chicago, Mrs. Goldie Brady of Chicago, Mrs. Bernice Dusek of Cicero, 111., Mrs. Zelma' Deerburg of Wheatfield and Harold Hodge of South Bend. Three sisters and one brother also survive him. They are: Mrs. Sarah Stembel of Wheatfield, Mrs. Frances Schweir of Knox, Bert Tilton of Schneider and Mrs. Bessie Jensen of South Bend. There are 23 grandchildren and 17 ’ great-grandchildren surviving. Funeral services will be conducted from Todd ; s Funeral Home in DeMotte at 2 p.m., DST., Wednesday with th'e Rev. John Forner of the Wheatfield Assembly of God church officiating. Burial will be at Wheatfield cemetery. The remains are at Todd’s Funeral Home.
