Do You Crochet? Here’s Good News
Jasper County Fair Association To Offer Trophy and Ribbons To Knitters Another feature of the Jasper county Silver Jubilee fair this year will be a crochet contest, officials of the Association announced today. The county winner will move on to the national contest, which offers a cash prize of SSOO, plus a free trip to Chicago or New York. The Jasper county winner will be awarded a, trophy, and the top performers will receive ribbons. Here are the rules: All materials must be crocheted or mercerized crochet cotton. All entries must have been completed since January 1, 1949. A contestant may submit as many entries fulfilling all rules. There are sixteen classifications, as follows: table cloths bedspreads, luncheon cloths and sets, centerpieces, 14” and over in diamater, buffet and vanity sets, chair sets, doilies under 14” in diameter, scarves and wall panels, household accessories, edgings and insertions, fashion accessories, pot holders and hot plate mats. There are men only, teen-age girls, 4-H club girls and ladies over 65 years classifications. To compete in the nation-wide contest all entries must have won a nation-wide crocheting contest ribbon at a participating state, county or local fair. So come on, you fans and prepare an entry for the Jasper County Silver Jubilee Fair, Remember the date, August 16. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hoffman are the proud parents of a baby boy, born July 6th, at the Rensselaer hospital. He 'weighed 6 lbs. 5 ozs. and was named Steven Howard.
