Yields, Test Weights Figures On leading Varieties Presented At Farm Meeting More than 100 Jasper County farmers attended the meeting Wednesday morning on the Earl Kockwell farm in Gillam township to see the oats varieties and to hear C. P. Walker, Purdue Extension Agronomist discuss the merits of the seven varieties grown in this plot. In this plot as in Purdue test plots the Benton Oats had the heaviest test weight and Clinton 50 the biggest yield of the varieties recommended for Indiana farmers. An average of many test plots similar, to this are needed over a period of years to determine the merits of any variety of grain. Mrs. Neola True entertained at a Stork shower Tuesday evening in honor of Barbara Gorbet Wheeler. The guest of honor received many lovely gifts. The fourteen ladies present spent the evening playing Bunco and enjoyed delicious refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van Wieren of Florida are visiting friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ramp and family are vacationing at Shafer Lake this week. The Ockermann family is spending this week at Bass Lake. Mrs. Ockermann entertained her Bridge club there Wednesday evening with a picnic supper. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Van Wienen and son of Gary visited the Harry Van Wienens last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Burroughs of Monon have been visiting Mae Erwin and Sadie Fairchild this week.
