CARS COLLIDE NORTH OF TOWN

Mabel Myers was taken to the Jasper county hospital early Sunday morning, as a result of an accident which happened about 1:30, on State Highway 53, just north of DeMotte. She received cuts on the back of her head which required several stitches, face and body bruises and chest bruises. Her condition is good and she expects to be released from the hospital Thursday or Friday. The accident occurred when the 1947 Ford, driven by Sam Kingma, son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Kingma hit the back of the 1935 Chevrolet owned and operated by Lee Myers. Riding in the Myers car beside him and Mrs. Myers were Hazel Hanaway and Richard Grevenstuk, Jr. Grevenstuk was returning to DeMotte with them to pick up his truck which he had left there earlier in the evening. George Nannenga and John Louis Walstra were riding with Kingma who received a cut on his forehead. Nannenga received a knee injury.
