WORKERS IDLED

Cleveland, June 30. Because of the coal miners’ vacation period 4176 Chesapeake and Ohio railway employes are being laid off, a C& O spokesman announced today. The lay off order affects 175 employes at Peru. The spokesman -said the order affects employes directly engaged in the movement of coal trains, and when the miners return to work the employes will be rehired.

Jana Lee Doyle celebrated her Bth birthday Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Griffin of Goodland. Those present were Mrs. Jan Doyle, the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Porter and Mr. and Mrs. John Doyle and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mayotta and Kay Woudema.

Paul Hoffman has accepted a position with a company in Indianapolis and will work from their branch in Lebanon and will live there. Mrs. Hoffman and the children will remain in DeMotte until a place to live can be found.
