MAY REDUCE AUTO INSURANCE RATES
Indianapolis, June 23. Automobile insurance rates, frozen since early March, may be’ reduced before Jan. 1, 1950. Frank J. Viehmann, State insurance commissioner said today rates might be lowered between 10 and 15 per cent. He made it clear, however, that rates would remain static until completion of an investigation authorized by the 1949 state senate. Some insurance companies already have filed for rate reductions while others have asked for increases, Viehmann said. “We now are making a complete and very careful statistical analysis of the experience of companies to be completed before any action is taken,” he added.
