HOOSIER COUNTIES SELECT GOP EDUCATORS
The traditional Republican stronghold of Allen county had its first GOP county school superintendent tj>day. His election highlighted reorganization of Indiana rural school systems. At Fort W ayne. Ilail'n High school Principal Lawrence E. Foote ‘broke Democratic Kelro Hiteman’s 12 year reign as superintendent. Despite the fact the trustee board was 11 to 9 Republican, one GOP member joined the Democrats in supporting Whiteman and the vote was deadlocked at 10-10 until County Auditor Fred Wissman-, a Republican, cast the deciding ballot in Foote’s favor. At Peru, A. S. Thomas retired after 20 years in Miami county and was succeeded by John H. Davisson. At Crawfordsville, Montgomery county Supt. John Ward was re-elected for his sixth four-year term. Earl Dinsmore I in Porter county and Custer Baker in Johnson county were re-1 elected after serving 16 years each. I
Mr. and Mrs. Willis DeYoung of Kersey and Mrs. John DeYoung of Rensselaer are visiting relatives in Webster, Mass, They plan to spend three Weeks there. Dr. and Mrs. Duvall have rented Mrs. C. K. Bush’es house and will move there soon.
