Dan Jeffers, Mrs. Eva Staggs, Mis. Audrey Nichols and daughter. Kay. all of Terre Haute, visited relatives here over the week-end. Mjs. Staggs and Mrs. Nichols and daughter visited in the Cecil Myers home. Cecil and Eva are brother and sister. Dan Jeffers visited his brother, Bill and Bill’s family. The Igo-Ugo club will meet this month with Mrs. Belle Reddin. The W.S.C.S. met with Mrs. Frank Anderson. Election <sf officers as follows, President, Mrs. Vincent Stalbaum; VicePresident, Belle Reddin; Sec.Treasurer, Katherine Anderson. Chas. Wm. and Celia Mas Jasperson visited Sunday afternoon in the Clarence Stalbaum home. The neighborhood club met with Mrs. Bessie Walters. Prizes were won by: Mrs. Eugene Stalbaum, Mrs. M. Nichols and Mrs. Paul Spenner. Miss Helen Stalbaum, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stalbaum and Tom Hamon of Kouts will be married on June 18th. Miss Nora Jane Stalbaum another attractive girl bookkeeper at Tefft Co-Op will also be married on June 18th in the Tefft church to Malcolm Peregrine. Miss Helen is a nurse in the LaPorte Catholic hospital. The Happy Dozen Club met with Mrs. Louise Deerburg. Prizes were won by Mrs. Minnie Thornberg, Mi’s. Anna Reinhartz and Mrs. Otto Cesal.
Friends gathered on Saturday morning, April 30, at 9 a.m., Mass in the Sorrowful Mother Catholic church in Wheatfield to witness the marirage of Mrs. Louella Golding and James Krusik. The church was beautifully decorated with white carnations and white snapdragons. The bride yy-as charming in a brown crepe street length dress with matching hat and accessories.. Her corsage was of bronze rosebuds. Her attendant was Mrs. Irene Zabrdac and she wore a delicate purple Romaine street length dress and her corsage was gardenias. The bridegroom was attended, by his brother, Frank Krusik. Both men wore dark business suits and white carnation boutenierres. A wedding breakfast was served to the bridal party immediately after the ceremony. A dinner for sixty was served at 2 p.m. to relatives and friends in the C.Y.O. Hall. A 4-tier wedding cake was the centerpiece. A reception and dance followed at night. Mrs. Zazrdacj'complimented Mrs. Krusik before her marriage on April 26th at a party. Mrs. Goldie Grube was co-hostess. A mutual gift was presented to the bride-elect. The Pinochle club met with Mrs. Jay Duley. Prizes were won by: oßsemary Myers, Mrs. Elizabeth Cavender and Mrs. Lillian Grube. Lightning struck the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Katona in Tefft last week. Luckily no. one was hurt, but the home was damaged. Are we stumbling blocks or stepping stones in the community where we live? Rebekah Lodge No. 410 met in regular session on Tuesday night. Tefft Community Club had its last meeting until after harvest on Tuesday night. The Gay chorus of 1890’s was greatly enjoyed. Elmer T. Ferguson and Paul Lawrence whom we all know are listed among honor students in Indiana University for recognition of their high grades. Congratulations fellers. Parents will be guests of the deans on May 4th. Following the ceremony at 10 a.m. a reception will be held from 2 to 3 in the afternoon. The occasion celebrating the University’s 120th anniversary. and Mrs. Wm. Rowen and Susan of Valparaiso. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Myers entertained friends on Tuesday evening at a Gardian Health demonstration and dinner. Those attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Olan Minor Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Holbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Holbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Neier and Mr. and Mrs. Damon Parker The Wheatfield Senior class play “Am I Intruding” was well presented and well attended. Miss Peggy Nuss entertained her friend, Melvin Zeiters and Iris and Arnold Brown recently. The Wheatfield Junior and Senior Prom will be May 6th, Alumni May 7th. The Wheatfield 8 graders enjoyed a hayride and picnic party at the Game Preserve on Monday evening. Carl Thorman accompanied the class. A tea for 4-H Mothers was held in Tefft School Gym, on Monday evening. This was the first social activity of the season. Lloyd Agher and family of Hebron recently visited his twin sister, Lura and family . This reporter and family, Miss Marjorie Peregrine and Mrs. Margie Katona and her family enjoyed the Korea movies given by Lt. Max Stalbaum on Sunday p.m. To teeter-tqtter there, they stand on the board and jump. Jack Kelly was guest of honor at a birthday party at his home Tuesday night. Sixteen friends were present. Bunco and Rook was enjoyed during the evening. Birthday cake and the usual good eats were served.
Barbara Hoffman and sons are here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stangle this week. Mr. and Mr. Kenneth Zeck and Craig visited relatives at El Paso, 111., over the week-end. Blanche Kent from Hammond was here for a few’ days the last part of last week. She reports that • her father, Nelson Fairchild is not improving as fast as was hoped he would at the Indianapolis hospital and it will probably be some time before he will be able to leave the hospital. Judy Flath from Chicago visited with her aunt, Mrs. Ed 80l over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Etlon Gifford and boys of Duprive, Mrs. Dorothy Wells of Florida and Mr. and Mrs. Chari es Summers of Rensselaer were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sam DeKock.
Mr. and Mrs. Otto DeYoung, jr. .and Jody were shoppers at Indianapolis last Monday. < Mary Kessinger Lynn and Lyl4 and Grace Cheever were Gary shoppers last Saturday. Mr. and M rs. Harry Bierma visited with their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bierma. jr., at Chicago last weekend. Pvt. First Class Jim Story Is here from Cherry Point, North Carolina for a 22 day furlough.
Little Trudy Munson from Whyoming, 111., has been here visiting with her cousins, Sheeta and Janet St. John.
Mr. Harold Stevens and Mrs. Mildred Sipley from Chicago visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Stevens last Wednesday.
Mrs. Norma Thorsen entertained a group of ladies at a bridge luncheon at her home last Wedr nesday afternoon.
Miss Vernice Vanderploeg from Chicago was here Friday night to witness the Junior play as her sister had a part in the play.
