Cornelius Snip Dies At Home Near DeMofte
Cornelius Snip, who resided west of DeMotte in Newton county, died at his home at 8:30 p.m. last Thursday night, April 21, following a heart seizures. His death came suddenly and unexpectedly. Mr. Snip was born September 10, 1881, at Roseland, Illinois, and came to this vicinity at an early age. He was a son of Tunis and Mary (Poe) Snip. He was a farmer all his life, well known around DeMotte as an industrious and conscientious man. He was never married. Surviving him are the following brothers and sisters: John, Tunis and Gerret Snip of DeMotte; Wm. Snip of Kersey; Mrs. Elizabeth Evres and Mrs. Mary Hamstra of DeMotte and Mrs. Lela Ploegsma and Mrs. Kate Hanaway of Gary. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, at two o’clock from the First Reformed church of DeMotte, with the Rev. Tunis Miersma officiating,* Burial was made at the Holland cemetery, with The Todd Funeral Home in charge.
