DeMotte Lady Passes Away

Mrs. John DeFries Succumbs At Jasper County Hospital; Rites To Be Held Saturday Mrs. John DeFries, widely esteemed and prominent resident of DeMotte, passed avray at Jasper county hospital at 10:45 o’clock Thursday a.m., of complications that had impaired her health for more than four years. She became seriously ill a week ago. Mrs. DeFries was born in DeMotte January 5, 1905, the daughter of Abraham and Lula (Clifton) DeKoker. Her entire lifetime was spent in the DeMotte community. Her marriage to Mr. DeFries took place in Rensselaer on March 3, 1923. Besides her husband, Mrs. DeFries is survived by her parents and the following children: Mrs. Inez Orsburn, Kenneth , DeFries, Willard DeFries, Edna DeFries and Carroli DeFries. Also surviving her are four grandchildren and four sisters and two brothers, as follows: Howard DeKoker of Hammond, Mrs. Evelyn Mills of Crown Point, Miss Katherine DeKoker of Hammond, Arthur DeKoker of Bozeman, Montana, and Mrs. Tillie Evers and Mrs. Goldie Bozeman of DeMotte. Mrs. DeFries’ beautiful character made her one of northern Jasper county’s most highly esteemed ladies and her charm and kindness earned her the admiration of all.* Her friendship tow r ard all and the generosity and consideration she displayed in her daily life brought happiness to all who knew her. The funeral services will be held from Todd’s Chapel in DeMotte at 3:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Interment will be at DeMotte cemetery. The remains are at Todd’s Funeral Home in DeMotte.
