Cancer Drive Chairman Named

Terre Haute Man And Indianapolis Lady To Guide Campaign, Local Workers Are Informed Appointment of Anthony J. Hulman, Terre Haute, and Mrs. Roland M. Hazen, Indianapolis, as co-chairmen of the 1949 fundraising campaign of the Indiana Cancer Society, was announced today. Mrs. Claude G. Kruzan, chairman of the Jasper County Cancer Society, received notification of the appointment from William H. Ball, Muncie, president of the state society. Mr. Ball also notified the local society that James A. Rogan, president of the American National Bank of Indianapolis, will succeed Governor Henry F. Schricker as treasurer of the state organization. Dr. Lail Montgomery, head of the laboratory at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, was named vice-president in charge of research, and Russell E. Campbell, Indianapolis public relations specialist, was appointed state chairman of publicity and public relations. Accompanying the message to Mrs. Kruzan was the comment from Mr. Ball that “The Indiana Cancer Society’s success in obtaining the consent of Mr. Hulman and Mrs. Hazen to assume leader-

ship of the 1949 campaign reflects the rapidly growing recognition of the importance of the movement to control cancer. Mr. Hulman has served in two previous campaigns and Mrs. Hazen is one of the veterans workers in the movement. Their experience and ability will be of great benefit to the county societies, from which stems the real strength of the state organization.”

Mr. Hulman is widely known as a financier and owner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Mrs. Hazen recently was honored by the American Cancer Society for outstanding work in the cancer control fight The campaign again will be coordinated by Rollis S. Weesner, Executive 'director of the society, with offices in the Board of Trade Building, Indianapolis.
