Jack Davis Of Near Kniman Passes Away
Well Known Farmer Succumbs At Hopital W. A. (Jack) Davis, popular farmer residing near Kniman, died at Jasper county hospital at nine o’clock last night following an illness of fifteen months during which time he was hospitalized on several occasions in Chicago, here and elsewhere. He entered the hospital here the last time three weeks ago. His death was attributed to a series of complications. The death of this highly es- » teemed farmer who had lived in the Kniman vicinity for many years, the past twenty years on the farm which the family now occupies, came as a keen shock to his many friends. Mr. Davis was born near Brook on December 8, 1888, the son of Thomas and Maria (Ulyat) Davis. His boyhood, as was his later life, was spent on a farm. He was educated in the schools of his home vicinity, after which he took up a farming career. He was married io Miss Edna Zoborosky of near Morocco, at the home of the bride on December 25, 1909. No children were born to the union. Following a brief period on a farm near Brook, the couple moved to the Kniman vicinity where the balance of their married life was spent. The immediate survivors include the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Clinton Spangler of Valparaiso, Mrs. Vem Michal of Kniman, Mrs. Frank McColly and James Davis of Rensselaer and Ernest Davis of Kniman. During his youth Mr. Davis United with the Christian church of Brobk. Mr. Davis was a citizen of excellent reputation, an able farmer, true friend and a man who was ever interested in the development of his community. The funeral services were conducted from W. J. Wright Chapel at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Earl Moore and the Rev. W. D. Archibald in charge. Interment was at Weston cemetery.
