Blue Cross Enrollments At Hospital
Applications Will Be Accepted At Local Hospital Until March 19 Mrs. Ruth Schumaker announced today that any individual wishing to enroll in the Blue CrossBlue Shield Plan may still do so. Blue Cross-Blue Shield applications are being accepted at the Jasper County Hospital until Saturday, March 19. Enrollment in this non-profit hospital and doctors Plan has met with great success and acceptance in this community. Enrollment through the two local banks ended officially last Saturday, March 12. It was found that quite a few people were unable to obtain, membership in the Plan before Saturday because of unforeseen circumstances. Mrs. Schumaker said that since the enrollment in the Blue Cross-Blue Shield Plan would not be made available to this community for at least a year, that she personally thought it only fair to attend the enrollment date for individual through this week. It was found, last week, that people of all ages and physical conditions availed themselves of this opportunity to protect themselves and their families against the unexpected and costly hospital and surgical bills. Mrs. Schumaker is appealing to everyone to give this matter theircareful thought and consideration and if they decide that they wish to enroll in the Blue Cross-Blue Plan to jplease do so before Saturday, March 19.

SSA Warns On Bogus Operators
Social Security Administration Employees Carry Official Identification Cards Complaints have been received that unauthorized persons have represented themselves as employees of the Social Security Administration in asking for information from citizens, Edward J. Hupe, manager of the Lafayette office said today. At the same time he pointed out that all Social Security Administration employees carry official identification cards and are glad to show them upon request. Mr. Hupe also asked that any instances of misrepresentation be reported to his office in the Post Office Building, Lafayette. As a result of one recent complaint, he said, a Federal Grand Jury in New York indicted a woman investigator for a bus company on a charge of impersonating a Social Security Administration representative. This woman, he said, was reported to have posed as a Social Security employee while seeking information concerning medical treatment and other expenses incurred by this person upon whom she called. “Sometimes Social Security Administration employees find it necessary to make official calls upon people in their homes, but these calls relate only to social security business,” Mr. Hupe said. “Our transactions with all are confidential and we want to help prevent impostors from obtaining personal information by using the Social Security Administration’s name. Any Social Security Administration representative will be glad to show credentials whenever asked to do so. We also will welcome reports of instances where a person claims to be a Social Security Administration representative and refuses to show an identification' card.
