FRED WHEELER, CROWN POINT EDITOR DIES

Fred Young Wheeler, dean of Lake county’s newspaper ranks, who was described as typifying the acme of rural jouralism, died yesterday .morning. He would have been 75 years old on March 20. He died following a long illness at 135 N. Court street, Crown Point, located on the tract where his great-grandfather, Solon Robinson, Crown Point’s first resident, settled. The deceased was editor-publisher of the Lake County Star since 1917, assuming supervision of the weekly publication following, the death of his father, John J. Wheeler. The elder Wheeler founded the Crown Point weekly in 1880. Surviving are the widow, a daughter and two sisters. , Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday at Linton's .chapel. The remains will be cremated. Lois Hoffman visited with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hoffman and ehil-dretu-at Lafayette over the weekend.
