Home Economics Clubs

Keener The Keener Home Economic club met on February 18th, at the home of Mrs. Gerald Curtin, with 19 members present. It was decided to buy two sheets for the Melvin Banker family whose house was destroyed by fire the 13th of this- month. Much discussion went on among the group over the washing machine situation. Everyone having their own ideas on the automatic and mechanical washing machines. The next meeting will be March 18th with Mrs. Paul Stangle. Rensselaer The Rensselaer Home Economics club met on February 10 at the Brook hotel with 28 members and 4 visitors present. The annual dinner meeting was held with the county officers and Miss Patterson present. The program and decorations were in keeping with St. Valentine’s Day, roll call responses being original valentine verses. Mrs. Don Warren received the prize for the best verse, and Mrs. Carl Worden was given honorable mention. Equal -donations were given to the Red Cross and the March of Dimes. Mrs. Paul Brusnahan and Mrs. Don Warren gave a clever interpretation of the song “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” and a club history of the past two years was given by Mrs. Ed Ranton. The next meeting will be March 10 at the home of Mrs. Arthur Arnott. Gillam The Gillam Homemakers met February 15th, at the home of Mrs, Wallace Stevens, with 5 members and 3 visitors present. A covered dish dinner was held at noon. Due to the illness of Mrs. Walters, the meeting was i presided over by Mrs. E. Miller. I The lesson on Laundry equipment | was given by Mrs. Lawrence Nelson. Water Softners and automatic washers were discussed. Members who ordered pins can get them from Mrs. Walters. A valentine was signed by all present and sent to Mrs. Walters. Mrs. Thornberry and Mrs. Clover received gifts from their silent friends. Valentines were exchanged. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Ed Rockwell on March 16. Kniman The Kniman Home Economics club met on February 17th, at the home of Mrs. Andrew Allen with 14 members present.
