GOODLAND TROOP WINS BOY SCOUT CONTEST

Over 75 Boy Scouts and leaders from Jasper and Newton Counties participated in a Scout rally in the Brook high school gym last night. Troop 56, Rev/ j Warren Zinn, Scoutmaster, placed first, and Troop 60. Lowell Woolj ever, Scoutmaster, and Troop 51, George Dye, Scoutmaster, tied for second place. Troops participating were: Troop 50 Jordan. Township; Troop 51, Kentland; Troop 52, Rensselaer; Troop 56, Goodland; Troop 57, DeMotte; Troop 59,M orocco and Troop 60, Wheatfield. Bill Merritt. District 4 Commissioner, opened the meeting by leading everyone in the Scout Oath. He and John Hudson, District 4 Chairman, then inspected Troops. Four knot tying relays were run off, and several games were played. These were followed by a campfire. The rally closed with the singing of “Taps" and the Scoutmaster’s Benediction. Jerry Ramp, son of Mr. and ! Mrs. Louis Ramp and Delores Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Myers had their tonsils removed at the Jasper county hospital last Friday and returned Jto their home on Saturday.
