Former Owner Of DeMotte Post Dies

Mrs. Mary Peterson Dies Soon After Suffering Stroke At Des Moines, lowa, Home DeMotte residents were shocked today upon learning that Mrs. Mary Peterson, former owner and publisher of the Kankakee Valley Post, passed away at her home in Des Moines, lowa, on January 25th. The death of Mrs. Peterson, who left DeMotte in 1946 following several years as publisher’ of the Post, came a week after she was stricken ill and a few hours after she suffered a paralytic seizure. She was about 51 years of age. Mrs. Peterson, who was manager of a chain restaurant in Des Moines, suffered severe back pains about a week before her death. She was removed to a hospital and by the following Sunday was well enough to return to her home. On Monday she suffered a paralytic stroke and died less than twenty-four hours later- Death-' was said to have been due to rupture of the heart valve. Burial was made at Des Moines Saturday. Mrs. Peterson, widow of a World War I veteran, sold the Post to Alva Johnson in 1946 and a few months later Mr. Johnson sold the newspaper to Keith B. Robinson of Rensselaer. Mrs. Peterson’s immediate survivors are brothers and sisters. She had made her home with a widowed sister in Des Moines. A- ■
