SCHOOL NEWS
Last Friday night, January 21, DeMotte Indians played Wheatfield Devils. DeMotte lost to Wheatfield 38 to 31. The Senior class is discussing plans for their trip. The majority of the class voted for a trip to Washington. They plan on chartering a bus, and taking rooms at the Y.W.C.A. and the W.M.C.A. The trip in all is to include not more than four days. They plan to leave June first. The Seniors are also expecting a new member to their class. Virginia Biggs, formerly of Chicago. Although Virginia went to DeMotte High during her junior year she returned with her family io Chicago last summer. She will arrive Wednesday, January 26. The class will now have 22 members. By invitation from the Cheevers, the Senior class and Mr. Stangle witnessed the inaugeration of President Truman, Thursday, January 20, on television. The Senior calss wishes to thank Mr. and Mrs. Cheever. Marilyn Sauer and Wayne Huhn celebrated their birthdays on January 24 by passing out suckers. The advanced Home Ec. girls gave Marilyn a small surprise party Jan. 24. The Junior class has the choosing of their play—to be given the later part of April. The Dramatic club is planning entertainment for the assembly

every Tuesday morning, beginning Feb. Ist. Barbara Shaffer celebrated her birthday by giving a party at her home. Barbara is in the Sixth grade. Howard Crawford injured his arm while playing. Howard is a second grade student. On Thursday, January 27, the Harvester International show is planning a program. Players from the W.L.S. Barn Dance will entertain. His program will take place in the afternoon and also at night. The home of Mr. and Mrs. John Konovsky and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Cheever was a gathering place for neighbors and friends last Thursday. They were enjoying the inauguration of President Truman on the television sets. The Konovskys and Cheevers have the only television sets in town.
