Soil Conservation. Other Subjects To Be Discussed At Courthouse Meeting Soil Conservation, crop rotation and fertilizer application are tjie subjects for discussion at a meeting for farmers Wedensday, January 12th in the East Courtroom in Rensselaer. The meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. with a talk on '“Soil . Conservation Practices that Pay” by R. O. Cole of the Purdue Extension Service. G. P. Walker, of the Purdue Agronomy Department will discuss crop rotation and methods of applying fertilizers. There will also be a panel discussion on “How to get a Good Stand of Clover or other Legume Hay Crops.” The program for the day is as follows: A. M. Sidney Stephens in charge. 10:00 R. O. Cole, Soil Conservationist, Purdue University, “Soil Conservation Practices that Pay.” 10:45 G. P. Walker, Agronomist, Purdue University, “Fertilizing the Rotation. Use of Nitrogen Fertilizers.” P. M. Rollin J. Stewart in charge. o 1:00 Annual Business meeting of the Jasper County Soil Conservation District, Report of the years work and election of one director. 1:40 Panel Discussion R. O. This program has been arranged by the board of directors of the Jasper County Soil Conservation District, Rollin Stewart, Ed Rose, Sidney Stephens, Henry Toben and Waldby Duggleby; Larry Basset, district conservationist and J. A. Carroll County Agricultural Agent. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rowen and daughter and Mr. Harry Dyke were Valpo shoppers Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Fritts of Crown Point spent Sunday evening visiting Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fritts. Mr. and Mrs. Ruby Zlystra and family and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Zlystra and family had Xmas dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Nick Zlystra.
