Co. Incumbents Are Renamed By Commissioners

New Year's Day Meeting Confined To Appointments; Critser __ Re-Elected Board President The Jasper County Board of Commisisoners staged a routine performance New Year’s day when they assembled to transact business falling under the first day of the year category. All of the appointive incumbents were re-named, with one exception. The board decided to not continue the county service office position which was occupied by Earl Hemphill. In dropping that office the board felt there was no necessity to continue it, for the present at least. It was decided to resume the office of county health nurse, to which position Mrs. Viola (Cox) Cover was appointed at the salary of $3,000 per year. However, that appointment is contingent upon state approval. Russell Critser was re-named president of the board by his fellow board members, Brown Lamborn and Waldby Duggleby. The appointments and salaries follow: County Attorney Ronald Gillam. Courthouse Custodian —William Chambers. Salary S2OO per month. Courthouse Matron Lucy Ramey. Salary $75 per month. County Fireman Cecil Shumaker. Salary S2OO per month. Night Fireman Sam Wiles. Salary SIBO per month. County Health Officer Dr. C. E. Johnson.* County Health Nurse Mrs. Viola (Cox) Cover. Salary $3,000 per year. (Subject to state approval). County Highway Superintendent- Joseph Critser. Salary $350 per month. County 'Highway Bookkeeper, Mrs. Merle Ross. Salary $135 per month. In addition to the above, the various members of the highway personnel were re-named.
