COMMUNITY XMAS RSPORT

Community Christmas, for the, less fortunate in this locality, sponsored by the civic groups of DeMotte, and made possible by them and the generosity of the public and the chairwoman, Mrs. Frances Zeck, brought joy to many people. Not only to those who received, but equally to those who gave in the spirit of Chirstmas. Candy, peanuts and oranges were given to the children at the annual Xmas program at the school, December 22, a cost of $81.53. Meat and groceries purchased for the fifteen baskets cost $31.01. Large amounts of canned foods and potatoes were donated to the P.T.A. Cash donations totaled $23.20 were received from individuals by the P.T.A. Other contributions were Home Ec. Club, $5.00; Band Mothers, $10.00; P.T.A., $5:00; American Legion Post 440, $20.00; Legion Auxiliary DeMotte Unit 440, $20.00 and DeMotte Volunteer Firemen, $3.94. There was in the treasury from 1947 a balance of $27.40.
