Mr. and Mrs. Roy Florer entertained Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Alpers and Frank Alpers of Danville, 111. ,and Wm. Florer of Warsaw, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Hank Leek of laPorte, Ind., spent the weeked with home folks. Homer Stout of Medaryville was a business caller on Chas. Jasperson. ... * Emzly Ketchum is now in service and stationed in Kentucky. Rebekah Lodge No. 410 met in regular session on Tuesday night. The infant son, Donald Ray of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Yeoman of Rensselaer was christened in the Tefft Methodist church on Sunday. Mrs. Coyla Albin of Chicago was a Sunday visitor with friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Wad Heacock of Chicago visited recently in Emma Burger’s home. Mrs. Heacock is the former Lillian Dehmcke. Igo-Ugo Club will meet on Nov. 16th with Mrs. Mary White. The Jasper County Farm Bureau held their annual meeting in the St. Augustines Catholic church on Nov. 4th at 7:30 p.m. Hammond Music Makers in charge of entertainment in form of accordian duets, vocal solos and readings. Rev. W. C. Ashenhart of Flora, Ind., who has visited in Russia, was the principle speaker.
The Wheatfield Seniors and Freshman held a skating party recently as their first social event of the year. The committee in charge was Mary Alys Sprague, Kathleen Seegars, Patricia Green, Howard Marshall, Robert Thies, Archie Snyder and Christene Jensen. Miss M. Sanibala is the Freshman sponsor and Katheryn Browm is sponsor of the Senior class. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Dudka of North Judson were Sunday dinner guests in the home of Bob Przybylski, his mother, Mrs. Ed Sands and family. Mr. and Mrs. John Blue are attending the American Title Association Convention in Chicago. John and Sara are in charge of all Jasper Couty Abstract and Title work. Well done when they handle same, (we know for they’ve done our work). The Rural Youth meet will be on Nov. 16th in Wheatfield C.Y.O. Hall. Banquet with turkey supper, main feature, remember the date. Mrs. Kate Davis received the birthday cake and her mother Mrs. Joe Thies Sr., received a ham for the largest family when they were in the radio hookup over a Michigan City station while special guests at Burlowls restaurant near Valparaiso. Other visitors at the same time from here were Mrs. Ray Bieswanger, Mrs. Hillis Jeffers, Mrs. Sarah Thies and Mrs. Mary Garling. J. W. Davis and Clarence Stalbaum are each sporting new cars. Mr. and Mrs. C. jasperson called on Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Dolezal near Kouts and got acquainted with Mary’s sister, the new little Miss Joan, on Sunday evening. The Jolly Gang club entertained their husbands on Saturday night in Dale Garling’s home. All present report a grand time. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jeffers of Delphi and Mr. John R. Jeffers of Hammond w r ere recent visitors in Wm. Jeffers home. Mrs. Geo. Jones is visiting her daughter near Spencer, Ind. Monday dinner guests in the 1 ome of Mrs. Mary White were: Mrs. Wadby Duggleby, Mrs. Belle Heddin and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Jasperson. Mrs. Nellie Gillispie of Los Angeles, Calif., has returned to her home. Her nephew r , Wm. Davis and wife drove her home in their how auto. They-, expect to .visit ‘ -r some time in Selma, Calif. A party -was held in Grace i anselow’s home when several
friends brought their dinner in to eat with her, before she; left for her Chicago home. Her sisters and relatives composed the main group. Grace will return in May again. Mrs. Merle Pullium of California is here for a visit with her mother, Mrs. Maude Poicel and other relatives. Mrs. Hillis Jeffers entertained the Jolly Gang club on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Lura Sands went to Michigan City with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Jasperson on Thursday when Mrs. Jasperson went for a medical examination. Mrs. Sands visited Mrs. Maude Alice Zbrowski. Our sympathy to the Clyde Story family in the drowning of their little one, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Simmons. Mrs. Eunice Stonebraker is now living in Michigan City, where Jim has employment. As your reporter I want to thank so many of you who remember my birthday on Hallowe’en, also for the gifts.
