Baby Wanders To Ditch Bank And Is Drowned
Donald Allen Simmons, 21 Months, Victim of Tragedy At DeMotte Home DeMotte, so often a tragedy oenter in recent years, was again stunned by tragedy at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon when David Allen Simmons, 21-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde A. Simmons of Hebron, was drowned in the ditch that skirts the yard of the home his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Story, in DeMotte. The drowning occurred while | the little boy and his parents and his sister, Rebecca Ann, 3, were visiting at the Story home. The lad was pronounced dead an hour later at a doctor’s office after artificial respiration attempts had failed to produce slightest result. The little victim was found floating face downward in a foot of water. The tragedy was learned after Rebecca Ann returned to the house after playing in the yard with the victim. Asked where her brother was she pointed toward the ditch. The little boy was bom in Hebron where his brief lifetime was spent. Surviving besides the parents, sister and the maternal grandparents is the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Leonard Simmons, of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Clyde Simmons is the former Dorothy Story. The remains were taken to the Todd Funeral Home. Funeral services were held from DeMotte Methodist church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. W. D.
