Minor Surgery Is Performed On Local Levies

“Go Ahead” Signal Given By State Board On All But Rensselaer, Marion County Auditor H. Ray Wood has been given the go ahead signal on setting up the tax table for the various Jasper county taxing units by the state board of tax commissioners after they had conducted some minor surgery on most of the advertised rates. However, Auditor Wood was asked to hold in abeyance temporarily the levies for Rensselaer and Marion township which may yet undergo some more alteration by the state body. Any changes in those two units will not be drastic, Auditor Wood was advised, and the rates temporarily adopted for the pair by the state board may stand as they are at present, he was told. The levies set by the state board knocked off fractions in all instances where fractions were carried by the local tax board. Below appears a table showing the advertised levies and the final levies adopted by the state: Adv. Rate Rate Set Barkley $2.92 $2.86 Carpenter 1.875 1.80 Gillam 3.185 3.16 H.
