WHEATFIELD BEES DOWN DEMOTTE
The Wheatfield and DeMotte B teams played their only game of the season at Wheatfield Monday night, with the Devils coming out on the long end of a 59-12 score. The Indians kicked off and Zeiters made a first down on the first play and Ross a first down on the second. Zeiters carried the ball to the 3 yard line and Cortez scored. Muhler tossed the ball to Dunn for the point. Score 7-0. Muhler caught a Jong kick near his own goal line and ran 85 yards for a touchdown. Muhler passed to Jones and the score was 14-0. Ross fell on an Indian fumble on DeMotte’s 8 and then ran the ball across for the third touchdown. Dunn’s kick was good, Score 22-0. Conley fell on a fumbled ball on the 2 yard line and Jones carried the pig-skin across the line. Muhler’s run for the point completed the scoring for the first period 29-0. The Indijns rallied in the second quarter. White passed to Jabaay thru center for a first down. Wright dashed around right tackle for 13 yards and added 8 on the next play. Fritts pushed the pigskin across on the next play, for DeMotte’s first touchdown. The Indian kick failed and the score was 29-6 at the half. Early in the third period, Zeiters added six points for the Devils. DeMotte received and were downed on their 32nd. DeKoch made a pass thru center to Jabaay for a first down. White tossed a long pass from the 38 to Boissy which gave the Indians their second score. DeMotte failed to make the point. Score 35-12. * The fourth period started with Wheatfield in possession of the ball on DeMotte’s 28. The Devils
made a first down and Zeiters converted on a run. Dunn made a good kick. Score 43-12. The Indians received but were forced to kick. Zeiters caught the kick and dashed thru for another six points. Score 49-12. The Indians received again but again were forced to kick. Muhler caught the kick in the middle of
the field and ran the ball to the 8. In the last minute of play, Zeiters carried the ball over the goal line and Dunn materialized on the kick making the final score 57-12. | Wheatfields hard hitting defense was centered around Dunn and Jones. Gavenstuk, 4he Indian’s center did some nice blocking for
DeMotte. Zeiters scored three of Wheatfields seven touchdowns. Wright did some beautiful running for the Indians. The Detila showed more driving power but the Indians did nicer passing especially on their short passes thru center. Wheatfield 6 first downs, DeMotte, 3.
