Hebron Bank Robber Gets 20 Yr. Prison Term

Fred B. Pate Pleads Guilty To Participation In Theft April 29 South Bend, Ind., Oct. 13. A member of Indiana’s most notorious bank robbery team since the Dillinger gang was sentenced to 20 years in Federal prison here today. Fred B. Pate, 26 years old, Gary, appeared before Judge Luther M. Ewygert in U.S. District Court and pleaded guilty to participation in the $2,981 robbery of the Hebron (Ind.) Citizens Bank last April 29; Only ohe member of the fiveman Gary robber band, accused also of the $2,000 stickup of the Silver Creek (Ind.) bank last February and three bank robberies in Cleveland, still faces justice. 1. He is John (Dill) Stilinovich, held in Gary for prosecution as an habitual criminal. Michael Wesinski, 33, and Richard Shurman, 38, are serving life sentences in Indiana State Prison for murder of the fifth member, H. Ci Whiteaker, 25, in an argument over loot. v The gang split after Whiteaker’s death. Pate was arersted in Dallas, Tex.; Wzesinski and Shurman in New York state, and Stilinovich in St. Louis.
