HE WAS MY COMRADE
By Harry Bierma
He was my comrade, to me that’s enough, Shoulder to shoulder pn loads that were rough, We marched abreast, sailed over the sea, We followed the flag that men might be free. He was my comrade, no need to say more, Our joys all were shared, together we bore Privations, fatigue, V with hard ground for a bed, We dreamed oft of home, with God’s stars overhead. He was. my comrade, when threatened by fear, I felt his hand, heard his word of cheer, He gave me new courage, he lightened the load On days that were cloudy when weary the road. He was my comrade, we’re bound by a tie, Growing stronger and stronger as swift years roll by, When taps shall be sounded and the future be dim, In spirit I still will be marching with him. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bierma and children of Chicago visited his folks over the holiday week-end. Mrs. Neola True left Thursday to spend her vacation with her
son and family, the Leighton True’s at Phoenix, Arizona.
