' Th 6 community extends sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whitaker in the loss of their son, Bruce, also to 4he widow and children of Green Risner. Word has been received here that the 8-year-old son of Morgan Tilton was killed instantly by being run over by a truck. He was a grand child of Floa Tilton. The friends and relatives of the childs parents regret their great loss and extend sympathy. Mrs. James Clark of Florida visited here recently and at her sons in Rensselaer. Ed Yeagley has purchased the Johnnie Morehouse tavern and will soon take charge. Mr. and Mrs. Alva are visiting their son, Clarence and family at Elkhart. Miss Lenore Duks of South Rockwood near Detroit has been a guest of her aunt apd uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Fendig. Mr. Fendig has accompanied her home. She liked Wheatfield and hopes to return next summer. Rev. and Mrs. Forner are attending camp this week. Paul and Margaret Bauman have returned from Emo, Canada, after a weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hankins at their Canadian cabin which they built a year ago. Mr. and Mrs. John Katsbach and son also spent a week there. Arthur Blue and sons and two other boys attended the ball game at Wrigley Field and saw the Cubs and Braves in a doubleheader. Harry Stembel commander of the local American Legion reports that the legion has bought the John Veriga 20 acres and will use the same for a meeting place and for picnic ground, baseball etc. The property at present is occupied by Mrs. Veriga. Mr. Veriga died recently. The property has a house and several other buildings. Wp regret losing the family after' ten , years residence here. The ladies of the church, Assembly of God, gave a shower for Lois Peterson and she received many useful gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Blue and sons left Thursday for their home at Cortez, Florida, after spending the summer here. They were accompanied by Mrs. P. R. Blue to Mobile, Ala., from which she will go by train to New Orleans, and then to Oakdale, Louisiana, for a visit with her brother and family. Lillian Hibbs mother passed away recently at the family home in Michigan City. Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Sampson are on their vacation. Bertha Lawrence's son-in-law, * daughter and children are here for a brief visit. Margaret Grube spent the week-end with her parents. Warren Myers and wife are

occupying his mother’s property. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hilliard and Mr. and Mrs. Miles Devine attended the railroad show in Chicago recently. Ethel Hight spent Thursday in Gary. Mr. and Mrs. Miles Devine and son and P. R. Blue spent the week-end with the Hankins family in Lafayette.
