Co. Hospital Board Issues Annual Report
Patient Registrations Show Increase; Expenses Up, But There Is Profit For Year The fiscal report of the trustees of Jasper County hospital filed Monday with the County Board of Commissioners shows \the hospital served 2,396 patients the past year, an increase of 278 over the previous year. Members of the Board of Trustees are Emil W. Hanley, Peter Merritt, Mrs. N. B. Scott and Mrs. Goldie Grube. The report shows that as of the fiscal year the institution’s receipts an $1,005.97 more than its expenses. On order for near future delivery to the hospital is an autoclave, sterilizer and distiller, the total cost of which will run $3,500. Two new food carts and a refrigerator have been added. The hospital received as donations an electric cast cutter and oxygen tent from the Hospital Guild, an electric gastroevacuator from Tri Kappa, an anaesthetist’s table and lamp from Sigma Phi Gamma, two lamps from Sigma Alpha Chi, in addition to canned fruit and much valuable donated time. The board appreciates the continued loyal support of the Guild and the numerous organizations that have helped in the past. The report said all hospitals are suffering heavily from the lack of trained personnel. The past year was one of heavy activitity in each department. The hospital tries to render service at a minimum cost to the taxpayers and at the same time keep abreast of the times by purchasing new equipment. It seeks to eliminate past errors and to progress year by year for the comfort and welfare of its patients. Health sciences are moving swiftly ahead and health needs are becoming so urgent that hospitals are greatly extended in keeping in step. Drugs, pharmaceuticals, food and salaries continue on the. increase. Expenses were well above 10 pct. greater the past year. The board has had to increase fees in some departments in order to meet the additional costs.
